Portraits of pets and their people, from one photo

Most pet portraits leave the person out. The photographs people actually treasure almost never do.

The hard part is that it has to be right twice

A person and an animal in one frame means two likenesses, and they fail in different ways. A face drifts toward generic; an animal loses its markings. Both are treated as fixed, and it is where most of the work goes.

The photograph to send

The best ones are almost always candid — on the sofa, mid-walk, the dog leaning into you. A posed photograph of a person holding an animal at arm length rarely makes a good portrait, because neither of them looks like themselves.

Which style

Cartoon is the most popular here by some distance, because it handles two subjects and a busy background gracefully. Watercolor is the choice for something quieter, and charcoal if the photograph is dark.

Common questions

How is my portrait made?

Your portrait is generated with AI image tools under human artistic direction, then checked by a person for likeness before it reaches you. It is not drawn by hand by a human artist, and we do not describe it as handmade.

When do I pay?

Nothing is charged when you place your request. We make your portrait, email you a proof, and only ask for payment once you have seen it and approved it.

What do I receive?

A high-resolution digital file by email, ready to print or frame. Nothing physical is shipped, so there is no waiting on post and no delivery address to give.

What happens to my photograph?

It is stored privately while your portrait is made, and deleted once your artwork has been delivered. It is never published, shared, sold, or used to train any model.

Can you combine a photo of me and a separate photo of my dog?

Often, yes, if the lighting is not wildly different. Send both and tell us; we will say honestly whether it will work before you pay.

Can you include two pets and two people?

Yes. Up to about six subjects in total holds individual likeness well.

Both of you, in one picture

Send the photograph you already love. A proof comes first, and nothing is charged until you approve it.
