Classic

Painted in the old way

Built on a dark toned ground with thin transparent glazes, so the underpainting glows through the shadows, and thicker opaque paint reserved for the lit planes of the face. A restrained earth palette — umber, ochre, lead white.

What it suits

Evening light, formal clothing, wedding photographs, and anyone who wants the portrait to look inherited rather than bought. It is the most theatrical style we offer.

Not the same as Digital Painting

Digital Painting is the contemporary commissioned-portrait look: brighter, more colour, visible modern brushwork. Classic is deliberately older and darker. If you want the photograph to feel like it was taken last year, choose Digital Painting.

Common questions

How is my portrait made?

Your portrait is generated with AI image tools under human artistic direction, then checked by a person for likeness before it reaches you. It is not drawn by hand by a human artist, and we do not describe it as handmade.

When do I pay?

Nothing is charged when you place your request. We make your portrait, email you a proof, and only ask for payment once you have seen it and approved it.

What do I receive?

A high-resolution digital file by email, ready to print or frame. Nothing physical is shipped, so there is no waiting on post and no delivery address to give.

What happens to my photograph?

It is stored privately while your portrait is made, and deleted once your artwork has been delivered. It is never published, shared, sold, or used to train any model.
