Memorial portraits from a photograph

A portrait of the person as they were. No wings, no halo, no clouds, no text across the bottom — unless you ask for it, none of that appears.

Restraint is the whole brief

Most memorial artwork sold online adds symbolism the family never asked for. We take the opposite position by default: the photograph, rendered as art, and nothing else. If you want something added, you tell us, and we will do it.

Older and imperfect photographs

The only photograph you have may be small, faded, or scanned from a print. Send it anyway. We will tell you honestly whether there is enough in it to work from, and if there is not, we will not take your money.

Choosing a style

Charcoal and pencil are what most families choose — quiet, tonal, and without the brightness that can feel wrong. Watercolour suits a photograph already full of light. Classic suits a formal portrait from decades ago.

Common questions

How is my portrait made?

Your portrait is generated with AI image tools under human artistic direction, then checked by a person for likeness before it reaches you. It is not drawn by hand by a human artist, and we do not describe it as handmade.

When do I pay?

Nothing is charged when you place your request. We make your portrait, email you a proof, and only ask for payment once you have seen it and approved it.

What do I receive?

A high-resolution digital file by email, ready to print or frame. Nothing physical is shipped, so there is no waiting on post and no delivery address to give.

What happens to my photograph?

It is stored privately while your portrait is made, and deleted once your artwork has been delivered. It is never published, shared, sold, or used to train any model.

Can you work from a very old or damaged photograph?

Often, yes. Send it and we will look before you commit to anything. If it will not produce a good likeness we will say so.

Will you invent detail the photograph does not show?

No. If a face is partly in shadow it stays in shadow. Inventing features on someone who has died is the one thing we will not do.

Can you remove the background?

Yes. Many families ask for a plain background so the person stands alone.

As they were

Send the photograph you have. We will send a proof, and nothing is charged until you are happy with it.
